I’m Mesia and I’m so glad you’re here!

About the Blog

The Ubuntu Girl blog will focus on my experiences as a woman in technology. At the outset of this blog, I am a coding boot camp attendee and student working on my BS in Cybersecurity and Information Assurance. I hope to detail my experiences trying to break into the field and subsequent experiences working in a male-dominated field.

About the Author

I love to write and discover new technologies. I am a novice artist and a total Potterhead. I love all things baby and animal. When I game, I tend to play a healer or an archer.

I have recently discovered that I am much more of an open source enthusiast than I thought. I have had several years of exposure to open source technologies and realize that I haven’t used a proprietary operating system on my personal machine since about 2011. I have helped organize open source groups and events, including a local Linux User Group and the first-annual Kansas Linux Fest.

Professionally, the biggest issue that is near and dear to my heart is the advocacy of women in STEM fields. See my post about women in STEM here. As I develop professionally, I will be putting a lot of time and energy into giving girls more confidence in STEM fields.
